  • Laura Kinninger is currently living in Madison and working at preschool. She is loving
the Madison area. She has a 8 months year old cat named Jasmine and
she is not a typical cat.

  • Erin Brodhagen graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Psychology, Spanish, and Global Cultures. She is working as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in Woodbury, MN. She lives in Minneapolis, MN, and is taking graduate school classes in school psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She is also planning on volunteering in Africa in 2008.

5 Years Later: Who's Doing What

Chris Felts is currently completing his education at UW-Oshkosh with a
degree in Music Recording and Music Business and a minor in
Radio/TV/Film. He plays saxophone in several music groups based in the
Fox Valley area performing in a wide range of musical styles. He has
engineered and mixed audio elements in several different media
environments (music albums, short films, etc.) and his saxophone playing
has also been captured in a similar range of media. He plans to
continue his creative and technical involvement with the entertainment
arts in the future.

  • Andrew Curtis has just finished his enlistment in the Marines, he left the West Coast and is now back in Wisconsin. He will be living and going to school in Milwaukee this fall.

  • Jill Michel is getting married! She will be unable to make the reunion, as she is having her bachelorette party in Milwaukee Saturday. Lindsay Reeves will also be attending her party.

Who's Doing What- 5 Years Later

    • Kate Lindsey Erickson received her Bachelors Degree in American Indian Studies and History from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She is currently working on my Masters Degree in History, Public History, and Museum Studies at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. After finishing her Masters Degree, she plans to teach college level history at either a technical school or junior university, while working as an assistant museum curator. She also plans to pursue and obtain my Doctorate in Native American History within the next 5-10 years and become a tenured History professor at a major university while working as a museum curator. She currently works at the Milwaukee Public Museum as a Planetarium Educator and IMAX Theatre Assistant and at a lakefront restaurant in downtown Milwaukee. She also recently finished research for the Milwaukee Public Museum on their Tlicho Nation collection, which will be published soon, is currently working on publishing my research on the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, and will be presenting research at the American Society for Ethnohistory Conference this November. Kate says "I also have an extremely wonderful boyfriend of 2 1/2 years, Daniel Miller, and an adorable one year old chinchilla named Gus." She is going to try to make the reunion.

  • Andy Heikes graduated from Illinois Wesleyan with a degree in Math and Risk Management, he is now working in Bloomington Illinois at State Farm Insurance. He travels a lot and will be going to Italy and to France to visit Tim Dieck the weekend of the reunion.

  • Tim Dieck recently got married and he now lives in France with his wife, he works for Shell Oil. Tim, along with Jessica Curtin, has a new nephew, Johnathon James Dieck.

Several new teachers start at Shawano schools

Several new teachers start at Shawano schools

Several teachers who are joining the Shawano School District this fall participated in several days of orientation this week.

Mark Otte will teach English and theater at Shawano Community High School. He has bachelor of science in education degrees in both English education and theater education from UW-Whitewater.

Deb Larson from Monticello, Minn., will teach speech pathology at SCHS and area parochial schools. She has a master of science degree in speech pathology and a 6th year licensure in educational administration/pupil services director from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minn.

Tyler Pensis of Shawano will teach 10th-grade biology at SCHS. He has a bachelor of science degree from UW-Green Bay.

Gereon Methner, from Wallace, Mich., will teach French at SCHS and SCMS. He has a bachelor of science from Central Michigan University and a master of arts degree from Bowling Green State University.

Ashley Ryan Hawke from Roseville, Minn., will teach art at Lincoln Elementary and SCMS. He has degrees from both UW-River Falls and Florida State University.

Leah Wilson of Green Bay will be a school counselor at Lincoln Elementary. She has a bachelor of art degree from UW-Madison and a master of science in education from UW-Platteville.

Thomas Kelly, from Homestead, Fla., will teach orchestra at SCHS. He has a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Florida and a master of music education from Florida State University.

Kathryn Lawrence will teach science at SCHS.

The district is still in the process of hiring another music teacher.

  • Kyle Thorson went to UW-Whitewater as well and graduated in December 2006 with a degree in Business Education. He Is the Marion High School Business Education teacher starting this fall (2007). He married Amanda Redmann on June 9, 2007 and currently lives in Shawano.

  • Sara (Zuehlke) Hutmaker is currently working full-time as a pharmacy technician for the Oneida Health Center and taking classes part-time towards a teaching degree (High School English - eventually...). She also stays busy chasing her two daughters - Corrine, age 6, and Corissa, age 3 - around her new home; Sarah & the girls just moved back to Shawano in July after living in multiple towns in both Wisconsin and Minnesota over the past 6 years. She says “It will be great to see everyone again this summer!

  • Patrick Van DeLaarschot just got his BA and is working retail until he goes to grad school. He's living in Brooklyn Park, MN, which is just outside of Minneapolis.

  • Lindsay (Ejnik) Hermann graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a BS in Criminal Justice in May of 2006 and then moved to Kansas City, MO in August 2006 to start grad school for Criminology. She got married in January of 2007 to Adam Hermann (a Sous Chef at a steakhouse in KC), they have a beagle named "Jack". Lindsey is currently working as a Correctional Advisor for Johnson County, KS (part of KC, KS), and is contemplating a Masters in Public Administration.

  • Kristi Venz is living in Minneapolis and going to graduate school for Public Health where she will graduate in May of 2008.

  • Katie Westfahl graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science in
    Education in August of 2007. She is certified to teach grades 1-8 in
    Elementary and Special Education with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities.
    She is currently looking for a full-time teaching position in Northeast
    Wisconsin. If she is unable to find a full-time teaching position she will
    be substitute teaching in the Shawano area.

  • Katie Lehto go a Biochemistry Degree from Northern Michigan. She is in a relationship and has a 5 month old baby girl (7 months by the reunion). She might be moving to Seattle to be near snow.

  • Justin Gehm is currently attending the Police Academy through Southwest Technical College on the UW-PLatteville Campus and hopes to get a job as a Law Enforcement Officer somewhere in the Northeast part of the state. He says he is looking forward to the reunion on August 25th.

  • Jodie Zlotnik graduated from Carroll College in 2006 with a degree in Psychology and Mathematics and is currently working on her teaching degree to teach grades 1-8 with minors in math and social studies which she finishes in the spring of 2008.

  • Jenny Glaser will be coming to the class reunion. She is a paralegal in Eau Claire and has a cockapoo puppy named Oliver.

  • Jennifer Bentley earned her Bachelor of Music (History and Literature) degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in
    2006. She is currently working on her Master of Arts (Musicology) degree at McGill University in Montréal, Québec, Canada, and plans to
    remain at McGill for her doctoral studies. She also enjoys her work as a graduate teaching assistant and as a part-time member of a
    professional string quartet. Jen is very excited for the reunion, and can't wait to see her American friends again!

  • Holly Backes will be attending the reunion. She is busy planning her wedding to her fiancé, Jason Tipton.

Who's Doing What- 5 Years Later

  • Derek Larson graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in Software Engineering last year. Currently he is working at Avista Inc. in Platteville. He tests the software on airplanes for companies like Boeing and Airbus. He also worked on some missile guidance for the Department of Defense. When Derek’s not working, he plays on a couple of sand volleyball teams, and even spent a week in March in California playing volleyball at all of the beaches around Los Angeles. On the weekends he does a lot of rock climbing, Mainly at Devil's Lake, and also makes a lot of trips to the Mississippi Palisades. If he is not climbing, he is kayaking down the Wisconsin River.

  • Ann Marie Warmenhoven graduated from Notre Dame in May of 2006 with a degree in Marketing Management and minors in Latin American Studies and International Business. She is now working in high tech public relations and social media in San Francisco, CA. When she’s not working, she is organizing the Notre Dame Young Alumni of San Francisco and is very active in Silicon Valley culture. Yes, she still likes turtles and the color pink.

5 Years Later: Who's Doing What

  • Amanda (Redmann) Thorson graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in December 2006 with a degree in Computer End User Technologies and a minor in Web Development and Administration. She is currently working for FEECO International in Green Bay as the Programmer Analyst. She helped to start a business called 4D Impressions, LLC this past year and it’s really starting to get it going right now! She married Kyle Thorson on June 9, 2007 and they're living in Shawano right now.
