Several new teachers start at Shawano schools
By Leader Staff WriterSeveral teachers who are joining the Shawano School District this fall participated in several days of orientation this week.
Mark Otte will teach English and theater at Shawano Community High School. He has bachelor of science in education degrees in both English education and theater education from UW-Whitewater.
Deb Larson from Monticello, Minn., will teach speech pathology at SCHS and area parochial schools. She has a master of science degree in speech pathology and a 6th year licensure in educational administration/pupil services director from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minn.
Tyler Pensis of Shawano will teach 10th-grade biology at SCHS. He has a bachelor of science degree from UW-Green Bay.
Gereon Methner, from Wallace, Mich., will teach French at SCHS and SCMS. He has a bachelor of science from Central Michigan University and a master of arts degree from Bowling Green State University.
Ashley Ryan Hawke from Roseville, Minn., will teach art at Lincoln Elementary and SCMS. He has degrees from both UW-River Falls and Florida State University.
Leah Wilson of Green Bay will be a school counselor at Lincoln Elementary. She has a bachelor of art degree from UW-Madison and a master of science in education from UW-Platteville.
Thomas Kelly, from Homestead, Fla., will teach orchestra at SCHS. He has a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Florida and a master of music education from Florida State University.
Kathryn Lawrence will teach science at SCHS.
The district is still in the process of hiring another music teacher.
